Manu Bhaker, Saurabh Chaudhary Smashes Qualifying World Record

Indian shooter Manu Bhakker and Saurabh Chaudhary have made a big breakthrough in the 12th Asian Air gun Championship in Taipei Taoyuan. The pair made a world record in qualification in the 10-meter air pistol mixed team and later won the gold medal of the event.

India's 17-year-old shooter Manu Bhaker and 16-year-old Saurabh Chaudhary on Wednesday clinched gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the 12th Asian Air gun Championship in Taoyuan, Taipei.

Both of them had won gold medal in the ISSF World Cup in the same competition in Delhi just a month ago. In qualification, 17 years old Manu and 16-year-old Saurabh together scored 784 points and broke the record made in the European Championships five days before Russia's Vitalina Batsarashkina and Artem Chernousov

The Indian pair, with the score of 484.8 points in the finals of the five teams, got the gold medals in their name. Korea's Hwang Seongeun and Kim Kim Mose Jong won the bronze with a score of 481.1 and Chia Ying and Kou Kuan-Ting of Taipei 413.3.

According to the statement of the Indian National Rifle Association (NRAI), the other Indian couple, Anuradha and Abhishek Verma, who took part in the competition, also made the final, but they had to settle for fourth place with 372.1 points.

A second Indian team comprising of Anuradha and Abhishek Verma also reached the finals and finished fourth with a score of 372.1, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) said in a statement in New Delhi.
