Audience are super excited about  movie whether it's the fun First Class songs or the romantic theme song, Kalank is undoubtedly one of the most touted films. But apart from the plot and the film, it's the brilliant outfits and regality that has everyone obsessed. Vogue India spoke to Manish Malhotra who opened up about the beautiful and aesthetic costumes.

He said "I saw all the movies of that time. I also spoke with my parents, my mother is from Sargodha and my father is from Rawalpindi and they shared a lot of stories about the events that transpired. My mother and I spent many mornings over tea discussing the clothes that were worn during those days, right from the salwars to the ghagaras."

Speaking about Madhuri's l look in the film, he adds, "Madhuri's character, Bahaar Begum, lives in Heera Mandi. She's an experienced singer and dancer, and her sartorial sensibilities see her pick deep colours, sometimes pastel shades and rich jewels that reflect the legacy she comes from. She's lonely, and she loves the art of dressing, as that's the only thing she has in her life to look forward to. She's the only character in the movie who dresses the way she is."

Manish goes to elaborate, "Alia's character, on the other hand, goes through different phases—there's the romantic period where we see her in a lot of pastels, then there is a more intense phase where we see her in deeper shades."

And for Sonakshi's portrayal of Satya, the designer adds, "Sonakshi's character is going through her own share of problems. So, her saris are subdued and subtle. There's only one flamboyant red sari because that's the only celebration you see her in. At Roop's wedding, you'll see Satya in a subtle hue while you will see Roop in a sindoori red ensemble."
