The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has reached his residence to poke about Congress leader and former Manipur Chief Minister O.Ibobi Singh after issuing notification for the alleged misuse of government money.  Ibobi was accused of misusing government money worth Rs 332 crore.  According to the news agency ANI, CBI had issued notification on Tuesday to question him in the case.  An official said that the CBI team has reached Imphal to interrogate Ibobi Singh and others.  He is accused of defalcation of money between 2009 and 2017, when he was the president of the Manipur Development Society.

The CBI will also investigate another accused related to the case.  According to the news agency IANS, the agency took up the matter on November 20 last year at the request of the BJP government of the state and with the permission of the central government.

According to the officials, the allegation is that Singh conspired with others during his tenure as MDS President from June 2009-July 2017 and gobbled up government money of about Rs 332 crore out of Rs 518 crore, which earned him development work. The CBI has said that Singh will be interrogated on Wednesday, while other accused will also be questioned in the coming days.  The team led by Joint Director NM Singh reached Imphal yesterday to interrogate Singh and other accused.

According to the Investigation, CBI found some important documents and property documents including 15.47 lakh cash and 36 lakh 49 thousand old notes, including documents of plot, house, flat and shop, and expensive car documents.
