West Bengal: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will take oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal at the Raj Bhavan for the third time today. The swearing-in ceremony will be very simplistic due to the Covid epidemic.

The invitation to the program has been sent to former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, Leader of the outgoing House, Abdul Mannan, and senior CPM leader Biman Bose. In view of the current circumstances of the epidemic, the Chief Ministers of other states and leaders of other political parties have not been invited to the ceremony.

Mamta Banerjee will be given Kolkata Police salute

Sources in the Trinamool Congress said party MP Abhishek Banerjee, election strategist Prashant Kishore, and senior party leader Firhad Hakim are also expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony in May 5 at 10:45 am at Raj Bhavan. Soon after taking the oath, Mamata Banerjee will go to the State Secretariat, where she will be given a Kolkata Police salute.

Trinamool Congress created history by winning 213 seats in the Bengal elections
The Trinamool Congress has created history by registering a resounding victory in the West Bengal assembly elections and has retained the power of the state for the third time in a row.

BJP has won 77 seats

The party has won 213 out of 292 assembly seats, which is more than the magic figure of the majority. At the same time, the BJP, which has given its full strength in this assembly election, has won 77 seats.

With this, the ISF, contesting on the symbol of the National Secular Majlis Party, has got a seat and an independent candidate has also been successful in winning the election. The Trinamool Congress performed better this time than the 2016 assembly elections when it won 211 seats.

The BJP could not succeed in overthrowing the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress from state power, but this is the first time it has become the main opposition party in Bengal.

The BJP won just three seats in the 2016 assembly elections. Gadgad Banerjee had to face defeat in Nandigram by his party's victory. She was a confidant in the past and lost to Shubhendu Adhikari, a strong leader who joined BJP this time, by a margin of 1,956 votes.
