Lucknow: FIR against Ola Cab and Mahindra as Drivers Allege Fraud

759 drivers allege that Ola secretly sold vehicles for which they were paying loan instalments to Mahindra. A fraud case has been registered.

A fraud case has been registered against Ola Cab and Mahindra First Choice Company in Lucknow. 759 drivers allege that Ola secretly sold vehicles for which they were paying loan instalments to Mahindra. Due to this, a large number of drivers started a ruckus in the Vibhuti Khand Kotwali police station. On the complaint of the drivers, the police have registered an FIR against both the companies. Efforts are being made to favour both the companies in the matter.

Scheme launched in 2017

Cab drivers say that in 2017 Ola started the scheme in which the driver used to deposit Rs 21,000 as deposit money. After this, the company would buy him a cab. Its 25 thousand per month or 830 rupees was to be deposited in daily instalments. After four and a half years, this vehicle would have been freehold in the favor of the driver. Under the scheme, 759 drivers of Lucknow had taken the vehicle by depositing it.

The lockdown was imposed lockdown on 20 March 2020 due to Corona. Because of which the work was stopped. Drivers were not able to pay instalments. In such a situation, the vehicles were parked at a guest house near Indiranagar Takrohi on behalf of Ola Company. Drivers say that the company had said that the vehicles would be returned after the lockdown opened, but it did not happen. It is alleged that during this time the company sent these vehicles to the yard at Sohramau in Unnao.

Auction stopped, the investigation started

According to the cab drivers, those people were trying to get their vehicles since the first lockdown was over. Meanwhile, the second wave of Corona led to a partial lockdown. On July 27, it came to light that the vehicles given by the company were being auctioned. While investigating, drivers reached Sohramau and came to know that the vehicles are being auctioned in association with Mahindra First Choice. The drivers met Sohramau SDM and told him about the incident. After which the auction was put on hold. After this drivers met DCP East and were informed about the incident. On the orders of the DCP, a case has been registered against Ola Company and Mahindra First Choice in Vibhuti Khand Kotwali under the sections of fraud and embezzlement.
