LPG Cylinder Cost Increases in Delhi amid Corona Epidemic

The price of LPG cylinder has been increased in other metro cities including Delhi amid the Corona virus epidemic. There has been an increase of 11 rupees 50 paise in Delhi on non-subsidized cylinders and this cylinder will now be available for Rs 593. This is the first time the price of LPG cylinder has been increased since February and the new prices have come into effect from today, 1st June.

Apart from Delhi, new prices are being implemented in Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai also from today. In Kolkata, the price of a cylinder has been increased by Rs 31.50, after which the new price has been increased to Rs 616 here, whereas in Mumbai, like Delhi, Rs 11.50 has been increased. In Chennai, Rs 37 has been increased on a cylinder, after which the new price has reached Rs 606.50.

This increase in the price of cylinders has been done at a time when the capital Delhi and Mumbai are battling with the maximum corona virus cases. All economic activities were at a stop since March, which have been opened recently, whereas restrictions are still going on in Mumbai. On the other hand the jobs of many people have also gone and in such a situation, the price of the cylinder will also affect the people's budget.

The Indian Oil Corporation told that in May, the retail price of LPG cylinder inside Delhi was reduced from Rs 744 to Rs 581.50, but now international prices have jumped, due to which the price of cylinder has been increased by Rs 11.50.

Recently, to overcome the Corona crisis, when Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the economic package, she also said that we have provided direct assistance to the people under the Pradhan Mantri Kalyan Yojana, in which people get free domestic gas and will be provided food for 5 months. The government has also announced to provide free gas cylinders as a help, but the customers who do not get subsidy, will now have to pay a higher price for domestic gas.
