Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the mobile application 'Uttarakhand Earthquake Alert' app at the Secretariat. Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, Disaster Management Department, and Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee will get early warning of earthquakes through this app.
Uttarakhand is the first state to make this app. This will help in public safety. The location of people can also be obtained during an earthquake through this app. Through earthquake alerts, earthquake-damaged structures can be notified when they are trapped. Uttarakhand Earthquake Alert App can be downloaded from Google Play Store. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Uttarakhand is an earthquake-sensitive state.
Through this app, people can get an early warning of earthquakes, so that people should be informed about this app. It should be disseminated widely through various mediums. A short film should be made and made accessible to the people by the Disaster Management Department. In schools also, children should be given information about this app through a short film.
The Chief Minister said that even for those who do not have an Android phone, the message of disaster warning should be sent to them, through this app this facility should also be provided. In early disaster warnings, arrangements should be made for alerts through both siren and voice. The separate siren tone for earthquake early warning.
The Chief Minister said that this is a good initiative for early earthquake warning. On this occasion, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Secretary Disaster Management SA Murugation, IIT Roorkee Prof. Kamal, and officials of Disaster Management Department were present.
