Kanji vadas are very beneficial during the summer season. One, it protects you from heatstroke and secondly gives your body coolness and energy which is most needed in summer.

Total Time: 45 minutes

 Servings: 5 people

Ingredients:

1/2 cup moong dal

2 liter water

1/4 tsp asafoetida

1/2 tsp red chilli powder

1 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp yellow mustard

1 tsp mustard oil

1 tsp oil

Salt to taste

  1. To make Kanji Vada, first of all take water in a box and mix it well by adding salt, turmeric, red chillies, asafoetida, yellow mustard and a little oil.
  2. Now pour this water in a vessel and boil it once on the gas. Put the boiled water back in the box, close the lid and keep it in the sun for three days. Open it daily and stir once a while.
  3. Three days later, the taste of kanji must have turned sour. Your kanji is ready.
  4. Now to make the vadas, first take the lentils and soak them in water and keep it for some time. Now after some time take the lentils, remove the water from it and put it in the grinder and grind it well.
  5. Add salt to the powdered lentils and whisk it well. Now take a pan and put oil in it to heat it.
  6. Now make the vadas by adding the dal mixture in hot oil and fry them. Fry all the mixture in the same way and take them out in a plate and keep them to cool down.
  7. Take out the kanji in the glass and put the fried vadas in it. Your delicious kanji vada is ready.
