Last year, LG showed off a 65-inch OLED TV that rolled upon the press of a button at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018. At the time, LG's smart TV not only stunned the world by its jaw-dropping aesthetics but also by the shear simplicity of its design, which enabled the TV to be rolled like a newspaper. But of, course that was just a prototype. This year, the Korean electronics giant is back at CES with its rollable TV. Only this time, its rollable TV is ready for actual use.

LG unveiled the world's first rollable OLED TV LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R (model 65R9) that disappears on the press of a button.

Unlike our regular TVs that operate in just one display mode, LG's rollable OLED TV works in three display modes based on the amount of screen that is visible. While in Full View, LG's rollable TV stands tall giving a view of its gigantic 65-inch screen, in Zero View, the TV disappears from the sight. On the other hand, in Line View, the rollable TV rolls out of the base partially and enables users to perform tasks that don't require the usage of the entire screen space. This includes using a host of features such as the Clock, Frame, Mood, Music and Home Dashboard. For example, users can invoke clock mode to check time and weather conditions or take a peek at their family photo album.

One would expect the smart TV to basically go to sleep in the Zero View mode like in case of the laptops or other devices with a display. However, even in the Zero View mode, LG's rollable OLED TV can be used to play music using its front-firing Dolby Atmos audio system.

But there's more to LG's new TV than its rollable feature. LG's rollable OLED TV is powered by the company's second generation Alpha 9 processor and it comes with Amazon Alexa on board. To put it simply, you can summon Alexa on the LG's rollable OLED TV and ask her to play songs or a movie or look for weather updates, just like you would in case of other Alexa-powered devices.

What's more? LG's rollable OLED TV comes with support for Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. While with AirPlay 2, users can stream videos, music, photos etc directly from their Apple devices on to LG's rollable TV, with HomeKit users will be able to control their smart TVs using Siri.

LG is yet to unveil the price for its rollable TV.
