Previous South Africa cricketer Lance Klusener has been named as the new head coach of the Afghanistan Men's cricket team, the nation's cricket board has affirmed.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) had prior welcomed application for the job, which got empty after the consummation of Phil Simmons' tenure after the 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup. The ACB had gotten more than 50 applications for the activity and Klusener was one of them.

Reflecting Klusener's appointment, ACB CEO Lutfullah Stanikzai uncovered that the procedure to delegate Afghanistan's new head coach was completed effectively while advising that the previous South African cricketer will start his tenure with the series against West Indies in November.

Stanikzai further said that Klusener is an eminent name in the cricketing scene and that the players would clearly be benifited from his huge experience.

"Lance Klusener is a renowned name in the cricketing world. It will be great to see our players benefit from his vast experience both as a player and a coach," the ACB official site cited Stanikzai as saying.

Exited up for his new job, Klusener said that Afghanistan group comprises of the absolute best ability in the world and that he is sure that it can end up perhaps the best group with some diligent work.

"I am extremely excited and honored to be given the opportunity to work with some of the best talent in world cricket. Everyone knows the fearless brand of cricket Afghanistan play. I am very confident that with some hard work we can become one of the best sides in the world. I am really looking forward to working with the Afghanistan team and helping them take their cricket to the next level,"  the previous South African all-rounder said.

Preceding this, Klusener had filled in as the bowling coach of Team Mumbai in the Indian Premier League (IPL), consultant to South Africa National Academy, South Africa batting mentor and Zimbabwe batting mentor.
