Virat Kohli on Thursday announced to step down as the captain of Team India's T20 format. Kohli will leave the captaincy of this format after the T20 World Cup to be held in October. However, he will continue to be the captain of Test and ODI matches. Kohli shared the post on social media and informed about his decision to step down as captain and took everyone by surprise. After the announcement of leaving the captaincy of Virat, shocking news is coming out.

According to sources in news agency PTI, Virat Kohli wanted to remove Rohit Sharma from the post of vice-captain. Virat had gone to the selectors with a proposal to remove Rohit as vice-captain in limited-overs. The Indian captain said that Rohit is now 34 years old. In such a situation, KL Rahul should be made the vice-captain in ODIs and Rishabh Pant in T20. However, this proposal of Kohli was not liked by the board, as they believed that Virat did not really want any successor.

Controversies that have come before

By the way, this is not the first time when the news of controversies between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has come to the fore. During the 2019 ODI World Cup, there were reports that Virat and Rohit do not even talk to each other. However, later head coach Ravi Shastri denied all these things. Not only this but the news was also revealed that Rohit has even unfollowed Virat on social media. There was no truth in this matter.

Kohli doesn't trust young players

It has also been said in the report that the Indian captain does not have the support of all the players in the team. Especially Virat leaves the junior players of the team in the middle. Talking to PTI, a former cricketer said – The problem with Virat is communication. Mahendra Singh Dhoni's room was open 24 hours and any player could enter. Could play video games with him, eat food and even talk about cricket when needed, but it is extremely difficult to get in touch with Kohli off the field.

3 contenders for vice-captaincy

If Virat Kohli leaves the captaincy, there is every chance of Rohit Sharma being made the captain of the T20 team and the responsibility of vice-captaincy can be given to Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul. Along with this, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will also be ahead in the race for this post. BCCI source said- Pant's claim is strong but Lokesh Rahul cannot be denied as he is also IPL captain. Not only this, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah can also prove to be a hidden weapon.
