Kidambi Srikanth, PV Sindhu, Parupalli Kashyap Sail into India Open Semis

Kashyap will be up against Viktor Axelsen in Saturday's semi final, while Srikanth will face China's Huang Yuxiang.

Olympic Silver Medalist PV Sindhu continued her glorious performance and made it to the semi-finals of the women's singles event of the India Open Badminton Tournament with a win in a tough match. Third-seeded Kidambi Srikanth and Parupalli Kashyap in the men's singles reached the last eight, but HH Pranay had to face defeat.

Second seed and world number six Sindhu in the quarterfinals beat Denmark's World Number 22 ranked player Eighth seed Mia Blichfeldt 21-19, 22-20 in 44 minutes. In the final, Sindhu will face third seed China's Bing Xiao.

The Match between Sindhu and Blichfeldt got to see a tough match from the very beginning. Both of them struggled for each issue in the first game. By 14-14, no player was able to score more than two points. Sindhu was ahead of 11-10 at the break. Sindhu made a 17-14 lead with three consecutive points at 14-14. The Indian player got four-game points when he shot a shot at a Danish player at a score of 16-19. Blichfeldt saved three game points, but Sindhu won the first game 21-19 with a superb drop shot.

In the second game, Sindhu started the better with a 7-3 lead. He was 11-8 ahead of the break. Sindhu took the advantage to 16-11, but Denmark's player was able to make the score 20-20, but Sindhu won the game and match with two consecutive points.

In the men's singles, world number seven Srikanth, who came back after winning the title, went on to win, while Kashyap performed his best in nearly four years and entered the semi-finals.

World number seven Srikanth defeated compatriot B Sai Praneeth in the best form 21-23, 21-11, 21-19 in an hour and two minutes. World number 55 Kashyap did not have to sweat more during the 21-16, 21-11 victory over Wang Tzu Wei of Chinese Taipei.

Kashyap made it to the semi-finals of a Super Series level Tournament in Indonesia after the Indonesia Open in 2015. Srikanth will face China's Huang in the semi-finals.
