Kerala to Include Sreesanth in Ranji Team after Ban Ends in September

Fast bowler S. Sreesanth can be seen playing for Kerala in the next Ranji season. It has been decided by Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) to select him in the team. The association says that Sreesanth can be seen playing in September if he proves his fitness. Let us tell you that Sreesanth was banned by the BCCI for 7 years in 2013 following IPL match-fixing allegations. The Kerala Ranji team, after talking to coach Tinu Yohannan, has decided to include Sreesanth in the team.

He was acquitted by the special court in 2015:

In May 2013, Delhi Police arrested Sreesanth and two fellow Rajasthan Royals players Ajit Chandila and Ankit Chavan for match-fixing. The BCCI subsequently banned the three players. However, Sreesanth had a long fight against these charges and in 2015, the special court acquitted him of the charges.

High Court lifted the life ban on him in 2018:

After this, in the year 2018, the Kerala High Court lifted the abolition ban imposed on him. But in 2019, the Supreme Court upheld his crime but asked the BCCI to reduce his sentence. The board later reduced the life ban imposed on them to seven years, which would expire in September 2020.

I will return to the field after proving my fitness: Sreesanth

Sreesanth said in Kochi that I owe the Kerala Cricket Association that they gave me a chance. I will prove my fitness so that I can get on the field. The time has come to forget all our controversies. Recently, KCA appointed fast bowler Tinu Yohannan as the head coach of the team. KCA Secretary Sreejith Nair said that his return will prove to be crucial for the team.

Sreesanth took 87 wickets in 27 Tests:

Sreesanth took 87 wickets in 27 Tests and 75 wickets in ODIs before the ban. He was also a member of the 2007 T20 World Champion Team and the 2011 World Cup-winning team. During the ban, he tried in both acting and politics. In the last assembly election, he was the BJP candidate from Thiruvananthapuram and was defeated by Congress candidate VS Sivakumar.
