The former student of Jawahar lal Nehru University, Shehla Rashid, who has been accused of spreading confusion against the army, has got a big relief from the Patiala House Court in Delhi. The court granted interim relief during the hearing on Tuesday. In such a situation, Shehla will not be arrested till the next hearing.
A sedition case has been registered against Shehla on September 3 last week. Special Cell of Delhi Police has registered a case under sections 124A, 153A, 153, 504 and 505 of IPC. The case has been filed on the complaint of Supreme Court lawyer Alakh Alok Srivastav.
Shehla Rashid has been accused that on August 18, she had tweeted several successive tweets about Jammu and Kashmir and the army. Shehla accused the Indian Army of torturing the people of Kashmir. The army denied Shehla's allegations, calling it a lie.
It is alleged that the news against India and the army came out in the international media about Shehla's tweet. In such a situation, an attempt has been made to tarnish the image of the country and the army. The complaint states that Shehla Rashid deliberately spread news against the country with the intention of inciting violence. It is alleged that Shehla tried to create unrest in Kashmir by tweet. Alakh Alok Srivastava had demanded from the police that Shehla spread false news against the Indian Army and the government, so a case should be registered against him and arrested.
Following the Shehla receipt's tweet, the Jammu and Kashmir government also issued a statement denying the allegations. Saeed Sehrish Asghar, director of the information public relations department of Jammu and Kashmir, had clarified that no untoward incident related to law and order has occurred in the valley.
