Five security personnel have been killed in an encounter with militants in Handwara in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. It includes a colonel, major, two jawans and a police officer. During this, two terrorists of Jaish are also killed. Mobile Internet service has been stopped in the entire area. Encounter is still going on in Handwara.
There were reports of 5 to 6 terrorists hiding in Chhangmulla area. On 24th, terrorists infiltrated from Pakistan occupied Kashmir. After which the security forces conducted a search operation in the area. This is the third encounter of the security forces with these terrorists.
Two terrorists also killed in Pulwama
In Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, two terrorists have been killed in an encounter with security forces on Saturday. Both have not been identified yet. A police official said that the presence of militants was reported in Dangerpura area of South Kashmir district, following which security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation early today.
The officer said that while the security forces were conducting search operations in the area, the terrorists hiding there started firing on them. The officer said that the security forces also retaliated after which the encounter started. Officials said that efforts are being made to identify the slain terrorists and find out which organization they were associated with.
