Now, in view of increase in coronavirus cases, officials of Ramban district have re-imposed the ban at Banihal near Jammu Srinagar National Highway. Ramban District Magistrate Nazim Jai Khan said that restrictions have been imposed in view of public interest and security on a large scale.
Khan said in his order, "COVID-19 cases saw a significant increase after the ban was lifted from Banihal tehsil after lockdown. Mass transport, market and social gathering can further spread the infection. "
The order said that all shops and commercial establishments, except the shops approved by the drug shops, auto repair shops and the district magistrates issued passes within the tehsil, would remain closed till further orders. According to the order, public transport will be completely banned in the tehsil. However, ambulances, pass holder passengers and vehicles carrying essential goods from Srinagar are exempted from the ban.
The total coronavirus cases in the country have crossed 9 lakh mark. According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry, during the last 24 hours, there have been 28,498 new cases of coronavirus reported in the country and the total number has increased to 9, 06,752. Although active cases are about 35 percent of the total cases. The figure for active cases is 3, 11,565.
The numbers of people who are losing their lives due to coronavirus are also increasing continuously, during the last 24 hours only 573 people have died due to coronavirus across the country and till now a total of 23,727 people lost their lives due to corona. However, the mortality rate due to coronavirus has started decreasing now.
