Smuggled gold was hidden in shoes
The Customs Department has caught a large amount of gold smuggling at Jaipur Airport. Custom’s team seized two gold biscuits of 1491 grams from a young man from Sharjahan. Their price is about 70 lakh 62 thousand 796 rupees. The young man had hidden these gold biscuits under the patam (leaf) near the heel in his shoes. The name of the arrested youth is Shravan Kumar (26). He is a resident of Sikar. The young man works in a construction company in Sharjahan and went to Sharjahan about a year ago.
This smuggler came in the hold
Officers of the Customs Department said that when the young man approached the checking point after getting off the flight, he was asked to take out the metal-related items and keep them out. The young man took out his purse, belt and other items kept in his pocket and kept it outside. His entire body was then examined with a hand metal detector. Even then he was not caught. After this, when the young man was removed from the door frame metal detector, the beep started ringing.
The security guard present there suspected something when the beep sounded. After the suspicion, the beep could not be tested again with a metal detector. But as soon as he pulled out of the door frame metal detector again, the beep started ringing.
After this, the officers present there strictly questioned the young man and took off his shoes. When the shoes were examined with a hand metal detector, it was found that gold has been kept in them. Under the direction of Subhash Aggarwal, Commissioner of Customs, Joint Commissioner Mukesh Kataria and Assistant Commissioner M.L. Shera’s team took this action.
Don’t know to whom the gold has to been delivered
When the arrested young man was questioned by the customs officials, from where did he bring the gold and to whom? So he told me that a person there gave me my ticket cost and extra Rs 10,000 and said that a person will be found outside Jaipur Airport. He will automatically recognize you. The person had already sent the photo of Shravan to WhatsApp. The Customs Department has now arrested the young man. Because a person is arrested for bringing gold worth more than 20 lakh rupees.
Gold price in Gulf country is 7 thousand less than India
Gold is cheaper in other Gulf countries including Dubai due to reduced tax. Currently, the price of 10 grams (24 carats) of gold in Dubai is close to Rs 42,400. While this much gold in India today is around 49 thousand 600 rupees. If you bring gold legally from the Gulf country, then you have to pay 10% customs duty on it. Therefore, gold is most commonly smuggled from Gulf Country.
