Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has again reiterated that the Citizenship Amendment Bill is completely divisive and unconstitutional. She says that is why the BSP vehemently opposed the Citizenship Amendment Bill in both the Houses of Parliament and also voted against it.
Mayawati tweeted on Friday that if the Central Government has shown haste to pass the Citizenship Amendment Bill, if it had been seen in the country to enact a strict law to curb female harassment, rape and murder etc. Would have been better. The BSP supremo further said that merely asking the states to write letters on this issue is not going to give a meaningful solution.
Earlier, BSP chief Mayawati has targeted the Congress on the issue of reservation in Rajya Sabha. She tweeted that the '126th Amended Bill of the Constitution provides for extending the ten years of SC-ST reservation, by obstructing the passage in Rajya Sabha, Congress has shown its anti-Dalit thinking. However, on the request of the Speaker, she returned to the House and then the bill was passed with delay. The 126th amendment bill extending 10 years of SC-ST reservation has been passed by the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
