Communist Party of India secretary P Mohanan of Kozhikode district says there is a relationship between Muslim terrorist organizations and Maoists. He said, 'Islamic terrorists are now encouraging Maoists in Kerala. The strength of the Maoists are Muslim terrorist organizations who are nurturing them by giving them water and fertilizer. The police should investigate this angle.
Further to Mohanan said, 'There is a relationship between the Muslim terrorist organization and the Maoists. The National Development Front (NDF) and Islamic Fundamentalists are very enthusiastic to support the Maoists. '
Though the Maoist threat in India has been largely influential in the action around the Dandakaranya forests concentrated in the South Bastar region, Kerala police have frequently cited intelligence reports citing the increasing influence of Maoist presence in Kerala, specifically in the tri-junction region of the Kerala-Karnataka-Tamil Nadu (KKT) border, where multiple alerts of Maoist training units operating were raised over the last few years.
