Irrfan Khan’s Mother Saeeda Begum Dies in Jaipur; Actor did not Join Suppurd-e-Khak Due to Lockdown

Saeeda Begum, mother of well-known actor Irrfan Khan, died in Jaipur at around 11.00 am this morning. She was 85 years old and was ill for a long time. Irrfan's mother, along with other members of her family, lived in Beniwal Kanta Krishna Colony in Jaipur and was originally from Tonk district in Rajasthan.

It is noteworthy that Irfan Khan, a victim of a deadly and rare disease like neuroendocrine, could not see his mother's last due to the lockdown enforced across the country and could not attend her last visit.

Significantly, Saeeda Begum, who is very fond of Sher-o-Shayari and belongs to the Nawabi family of Tonk, was buried with full custom in Chunga Naka, Jaipur cemetery at 4.30 pm today.

Meanwhile, there has been speculation that after finishing the shooting of 'Angrezi Medium', Irrfan Khan has once again gone to London for his treatment and he is present there. However, a source associated with Saeeda Begum's family told that he was present at his home in Mumbai and it was not possible for him to come to Jaipur in the event of lockdown and illness.

Let me tell you that six months ago Irfan Khan went to Jaipur to meet his mother Saeeda Begum. Irrfan was very close to his mother and he even took him to a cinema hall in Jaipur to show his film 'Maqbool' released in 2003. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, 'Maqbool' proved to be the turning point for Irrfan Khan's film career.
