Veteran Ireland all-rounder Kevin O'Brien has announced his retirement from ODI cricket. After playing cricket for more than 15 years for the team, he has now decided to say goodbye to this format. Brien said that he is not feeling fit and no longer has the "hunger and love" for the format needed to compete.
In an official statement, Kevin said, "After 15 years playing for Ireland, I feel now is the right time to step away and retire from ODI cricket. It has been an honour and a privilege to represent my country 153 times and the memories I take from them will last a lifetime. The hunger and love for the ODI format is no longer the same as it was and it wouldn't be fair… to continue to play while no longer feeling at 100 percent. I will now shift my focus and remain fully committed to T20 cricket — with two World Cups in the next 18 months — and hoping to add to my three caps in Test cricket."
Kevin played a historic inning of 113 runs against England in the 2011 World Cup. In this match, the England team, batting first, scored a huge score of 327 runs. In response to which the team registered a thrilling victory by scoring 329 runs for 7 wickets. Kevin scored 113 runs in 63 balls with the help of 13 fours and 6 sixes. At the same time, he was adjudged the player of the match. This batsman has 3619 runs in ODIs, 1672 runs in T20 and 258 runs in Test cricket. 37-year-old Dubliner will remain available for Test and T20 cricket won 153 caps in the 50-over format.
