The 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), played in UAE has become the most-watched season in the history of the tournament. This year in terms of live TV viewership, there has been a 23 percent rise in TV viewership as compared to the previous seasons. The official broadcaster Star India gave this information on Friday. Mumbai Indians won the 13th season of the IPL.
The entire tournament has reached 31.57 million average impressions viewership growth. The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), India has given this data. The five independent language channels – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bangla and Kannada have helped increase the viewership.
First match of IPL 2020 broke viewership records:
Star Sports India head (sports) Sanjog Gupta said, “Season 13 witnessed innovative programming, world-class production – both remote and on-ground. This wouldn’t have been possible without the fantastic work done by the team at BCCI in staging the tournament under extenuating circumstances and seamless functioning from our teams inside the bio-secure bubbles in India and UAE.” Let us tell you that the inaugural match of the 13th season had broke the viewership records.
Many Super over matches played in the 13th season of IPL:
The tournament was played in the UAE from 19 September to 10 November, in which 60 matches were played. Many Superovers were played in the tournament with one double super over match. Star received a lot of TRP due to such exciting matches. This was the first time that the entire IPL tournament took place in UAE. Earlier in the 2014 season of IPL, around 40 percent of the matches held in the UAE.
