The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has completed preparations for organizing the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the second phase of IPL to be held in the UAE from September 19 next month, spectators are likely to return to the stadium. At the same time, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) general secretary Mubashir Usmani had said that the board will discuss with the BCCI and the UAE government on the entry of spectators in the stadium.

Meanwhile, Usmani said, "As hosts, ECB will work closely with the authorities to seek approval on what protocols need to be followed. This includes fan attendance. We will then discuss it with the BCCI as well as the ICC to assess their spectator requirements. We want our expat and Emirati sports-loving fans in the UAE to be able to watch the action from the stands."

Over 60 percent spectators likely to get entry:

BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has said that the board would love to see the spectators. But only when it does not endanger the safety of the players and the public. Speaking to IANS, Dhumal said, "We are working on this and hope that the UAE government will allow spectators. Let us see what happens. The spectators will be allowed to attend. The rest depends on the UAE government."

At the same time, if reports are to be believed, then the UAE government has given a green signal for entry up to 60 percent of the spectators during the remaining matches of IPL 2021. On the other hand, Dhumal said that two new teams will be included in IPL 2022. He said, "Everyone now watches IPL. We are sure that it is an excited tournament in UAE as well. This is the last season where IPL will have eight teams. It is possible that from next time it will have 10 teams. We will work on that."
