The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly arrived at the Sharjah Stadium in the UAE on Monday and took stock of preparations for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.
The IPL is scheduled to be held in the UAE from 19 September to 10 November due to Corona. All 60 matches will take place in Dubai (24 matches), Abu Dhabi (20 matches) and Sharjah (12 matches).
Ganguly took stock of the preparation of the 13th edition of the tournament at Sharjah Stadium. He said that the young players are eager to play in the cricket ground where great players like Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar have created history.
Sharjah Stadium ready for the match:
Recently several major works have been done at Sharjah Stadium on a large scale. In addition to artificial roofing, upgrading the Royal Suite, the commentary box and the hospitality box have been prepared as per the rules related to the coronavirus.
These two teams will play in the first match:
Mumbai Indians will face last year’s runners-up Chennai Super Kings in the first match on 19 September. The first match will start at 7:30 pm Indian time, while the toss will be thrown at 7 pm. This match is to be played in Abu Dhabi. The second match will be played on September 20 between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab in Dubai.
At the same time, the third match will be played on 21 September between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore. On 22 September, the first match in Sharjah will be between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.
IPL 2020 Timing:
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), along with the Organizing Committee of IPL had already decided that the IPL matches would start a little earlier than before.
The BCCI has decided that the afternoon matches will start at 3:30 pm and the evening matches will start at 7:30 pm. However, the time in UAE would be one and a half hours earlier.
