IOC President Thanked PM Modi for his Support to Olympics Games

International Olympic Committee Chairman Thomas Bach has thanked the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. On Thursday, Thomas sent a letter to the Prime Minister, thanking him for his support at the summit of G20 leaders. The Olympics have been postponed for a year, in view of the increasing number of patients due to Coronavirus infection.

He said in the letter, "I am grateful for the support you have given for the Olympic Games and also for your role in the G20 Leaders' Summit which was held in Osaka last year. I had the opportunity to address you at this summit. Thank you also to Abe Shinzo for this generous invitation. The great work done by our Japan teammates, Tokyo is by far the most spectacular of the cities prepared for the Olympics. We enjoyed this fantastic work done by all of you and the support made by this belief. It has been exactly the same as it was at the G20 Leaders' Summit. I am confident that the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games which are now going to be held from 23 July to 8 August 2021 will be successful. Together with our Japanese comrades and friends, we have all agreed to this new date. We will continue to cooperate to control it to deal with the coronavirus."

Significantly, this time the Olympics are being held in Tokyo. On 26 March, due to the ever-increasing infection of the coronavirus, it was decided to postpone the event. On 31 March, the International Olympic Committee announced new dates for the next year.
