Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee once again targeted the central government and said that industrialists in the country are being intimidated about paying CBI tax in addition to regular tax. Addressing the industrialists on the second and last day of Business Summit 2019 held at Tourism Nagar Digha under East Medinipur district, Ms. Banerjee said that I came to know from my friends in the industry that they are facing many problems. You have to pay many kinds of taxes. Income tax, customs, CBI tax etc., everyone is afraid of doing business.

The Trinamool chief said that today there is a lot of mental stress before industrialists and if this continues, it will not be possible for them to do business. He said that by CBI tax he meant getting approval from the Central Investigation Agency.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the goal of the state government is to start production in the Devacha Pachami coal block in Birbhum district within 24 months. He said that the Deocha Pachami coal block is the second largest coal block in the world and has an estimated coal reserves of 2.1 billion tonnes. He said that we are very keen to start work on the project immediately. But there are some problems with land in some areas which will take some time.

Ms. Banerjee further said that on some plots we will start work in the next seven days and production will start in the coal block within 24 months. He said that the West Bengal Bijli Vikas Nigam Limited (WBPDCL) has allocated the Devacha-Pachami block in the south-west part of Birbhum and the Diwanganj Harinsingha block at the western end of the district.
