The US State Department's statement has come after the violent clash between the Indian and Chinese forces on the Galwan valley in eastern Ladakh. The ministry said on Tuesday night that it is closely monitoring the situation arising on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and Chinese forces.

A US State Department spokesman said, "We are closely monitoring the situation arising between Indian and Chinese forces on LAC. We have noted that the Indian Army has announced that 20 soldiers have been martyred and we express our condolences to families." Both India and China have expressed a desire to reduce tensions and we support a peaceful resolution of the current situation. 20 Indian Soldiers Martyred:

The Indian Army said on Tuesday that 20 soldiers were killed in violent clashes in the Galwan Valley with Chinese soldiers. In the statement, the army said that an equal number of Chinese soldiers have also been killed. With this, the number of soldiers killed has increased to 20."

"The Indian Army is firmly committed to protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the nation," the official statement said. However, the Foreign Ministry has blamed China for the incident. The ministry says it unilaterally tried to change the situation and that it should depart from consensus to honor the LLC in Galwan Valley. Meanwhile, UN President Antonio Guterres has expressed deep concern over the Indo-China border dispute and has requested both sides to exercise restraint.
