Indian shot-putter player, Naveen Chikara's dream of playing in the Olympics is broken. He has failed the out-of-competition dope test. Naveen has been banned for 4 years by the World Athletics Integrity Unit. This ban will be considered from 27 July 2018, as his sample was taken for the test. At the same time, Albert Rope, a Kenyan runner and silver winner in the Asian Games, has also failed the dope test. He has been banned for 2 years.

In 2018, he won the silver medal in the Federation Cup. While he was the runner-up in the Inter-State Championship. In the same year, Naveen was placed in the out-of-competition testing of the Testing Authority of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) of India in Patiala.

In October, his blood sample was sent to a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory in Montreal, Canada, which turned out to be positive. He was then banned indefinitely. Naveen then admitted that he did not know about the banned GHRP-6 drug, which he had mistakenly taken. After this, his B sample was also taken. After this, his ban was reduced to 4 years.
