Indian-Origin Nurse Awarded with Prestigious President’s Award in Singapore

Kala Narayanasamy, an Indian-origin nurse in Singapore who works as a frontline warrior has been awarded the prestigious President's Award. She is among the five nurses who have been given this award. The Ministry of Health gave this information on Wednesday. Each nurse was awarded certificates, a trophy and an amount of 10,000 SGD (USD 7,228) signed by the President of Singapore, Halimah Yacob.

Narayanasamy works at Woodland Health Campus:

Let us tell you that Narayanasamy is the deputy director of nursing at Woodland Health Campus. She was awarded this award for using infection control practices she learned at the time of the 2003 outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

Nursing will never fail to reward you: Narayanasamy

After receiving the honor, she said emotionally, 'All that we learned from SARS, we can put into place now.' She said, "I will always tell our nurses that nursing will never fail to reward you."

Let us tell you that the President's Award recognizes nurses who have consistently shown outstanding performance and contributions to patient care delivery, education, research and administration. Since its introduction in 2000, 77 nurses have been awarded so far.
