Indian Men’s Hockey Team is in Better Place Right Now despite Coronavirus: Coach Graham Reid

Due to Coronavirus, organizing all kinds of sports in the country has been postponed or canceled. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has also canceled all domestic tournaments. Like cricket, hockey has also been affected by Corona and the team is not practicing at this time despite facing an important competition like Olympics. The government has made it clear that health is bigger than any sport and player.

Graham Reid, the head coach of the Indian men's hockey team, believes his practice schedule has not been affected like other countries due to Corona and as far as preparations for the Tokyo Olympics are concerned, the eight-time champion India is in better place than its rivals.

It is certainly disappointing for India that Corona did not allow their team to tour Germany and England to play FIH Pro League matches, but at this difficult time, Reid looks at its positives. The Pro League has just been postponed.

He appreciated the steps taken by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Hockey India despite the ever-increasing threat of Corona. Reid said, 'The departments concerned acted quickly and isolated the SAI Center. We are isolated, but we are going according to our normal schedule. Things are happening very easily. We cannot control the virus, but we can control our environment. Things are changing every day, but one good thing is that we are continuing to practice, while this is not the case with other countries. The Australian players are with their families and practicing in Perth. Argentina has a centralized program, but I don't think they are able to practice like we are right now. Our entire team is together.'
