Indian Man Found Murdered in Canada, Accused of Hate Crime

A case of murder of a 23-year-old Indian youth has come to light in Canada. The name of this young man of Sikh origin was Prabhjot Singh Katri. According to the police, Prabhjot was murdered in his own apartment with a sharp weapon

A case of murder of a 23-year-old Indian youth has come to light in Canada. The name of this Sikh origin young man was Prabhjot Singh Katri. According to the sources, Prabhjot was murdered in his own apartment with a sharp weapon. Four people have been taken into custody in connection with the investigation.

After interrogation, all were released. Prabhjot was basically from the Moga district of Punjab. According to the sources, his sister and brother-in-law also lived in the same part of the apartment where Prabhjot was living. Prabhjot's friends have called this murder as it a case of hate crime.

The body of Prabhjot was found soaked in blood

The whole incident took place in the city of Truro, in the province of Nova Scotia. Police officer David McNeill said – The police got information about the incident at around two o'clock on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. When we reached the place, Prabhjot was covered in blood. We immediately took him to the hospital. He died during treatment. Four people have been taken into custody for questioning in this case. So far only all four have been left. One person is being closely monitored. We are reachingPrabhjot's friends and close friends. This incident is condemnable in every respect.

Prabhjot used to work in a restaurant along with driving a taxi

Prabhjot came to Canada in 2017. According to CBS News, he used to drive a taxi here as well as work in a restaurant. Along with work, Prabhjot was preparing for post-graduation. After returning from work on Sunday, Prabhjot was at home . Sikhs here are feeling extremely insecure after his murder. Police and the leaders of the Sikh community are trying to understand the matter deeply. Strict action will be taken against the culprits.

Panic in the community

Prabhjot's friend Agampal Singh said- He was a very hardworking and low-spoken boy. He cannot have any enemy. So, we simply think that this is a case of hate crime. Everyone related to the Sikh community is in panic after the incident. Preparations have been made to send his body to India. Another friend Kumardeep said – there are very few international students who are  living in this area. Everybody knows each other. Everyone is shocked by this incident. After all, we are also human beings and we too have a right to be safe. This is a case of apartheid murder. None of his belongings were stolen. There was also a wallet and phone in the pocket.
