The Indian embassy has started contacting Indian citizens who wish to return home after the enforced shutdown caused by the corona virus epidemic. The Embassy has taken this step after the Indian government had indicated to decide on the idea of bringing the stranded citizens in abroad after assessing the situation. The government had said on April 10 that after reviewing the Covid-19 situation a decision would be taken to bring the stranded Indian people abroad.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs Dammu Ravi said, 'There have been some questions about the Indian people living abroad. There is a situation in which we cannot give a definite answer because it is still closed there. We will have to review the situation, it will be the decision of the government that how will we manage the withdrawal of Indian people from other countries? For this, the first phase will probably start from the Gulf, Britain and other parts of Europe. After this, America will be considered.
The Indian embassy on Wednesday began sending emails to Indian community organizations and recently contacted people. Those who want to go back home can register at https://indianembassyusa.gov.in/Information_sheet1. However, no date has been set regarding the journey. There is also no official data on the total number of Indian people trapped in America. Although it is being said that it has many students, whereas the university is closed for the entire semester here. Apart from this, there are some people who came here for a short time and who have exhausted their money.
