MSK Prasad's tenure as the chief selector of the Indian team for a long time has now ended. MSK Prasad chaired the selectors' committee for the last time in Delhi on Monday 23 December. The Indian team was announced by the selection committee headed by him for the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka and the three-match ODI series against Australia. On the go, MSK Prasad praised Indian cricket fiercely.
MSK Prasad, a former cricketer completed his last assignment, said on the media question after announcing the team, "Indian cricket need not worry for the next 6-7 years, because our all formats (Test, ODI and T20 International) has adequate bench strength. "Earlier, MSK Prasad also stated that the selection committee has given rest to Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami's in T20 series, while opener Shikhar Dhawan and team pacer Jaspreet Bumrah included in the team.
The tenure of MSK Prasad as Chief Selector has been spectacular except for a couple of controversies. By giving chance to all the players like Jaspreet Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant in every format, he has proved his thinking. However, during the World Cup 2019, he also had to go through controversies when he preferred Vijay Shankar over Ambati Rayudu and then preferred Mayank Agarwal over Vijay Shankar. After this, Ambati Rayudu angrily announced his retirement. However, he later withdrew the decision.
