Mayank Agarwal's (243) strong double century and Mohammed Shami's superb bowling  helped India beat Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs in the first Test on the third day. With this, Team India took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

This is India's sixth consecutive Test win. This is also the eighth consecutive occasion when the Holkar Stadium in Indore witnessed the victory of the Indian team. Simultaneously, Team India, which topped the World Test Championship, has strengthened its reign. Bangladesh won the toss in the first Test match played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore and the Bangladesh team collapsed for 150 runs. In response, India declared their first innings at 493 for six wickets. Bangladesh's team came out to bat in response to India's 493 runs, and were all out to 213 runs in the second innings and lost the match. India won this match on the third day.

Bangladesh's second innings
Mayank Agarwal's double century (243), Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja's half-centuries made the Indian team score 493 for 6 in their first innings on the second day of the game.  Bangladesh started badly in the second innings. Bangladesh had lost both their openers on the score of 16 runs. Imrul Kayes (6) was bowled by Umesh Yadav and Shadman Islam (6) returned to the pavilion by Ishant Sharma. By reaching the score of 44 runs, Bangladesh had lost Mohammed Mithun (18) and Mominul Haq (7).

Mithun was on one end and was batting on 18, but he too had no answer to Shami's strong balling. Mahmudullah became Shami's third victim. After this, Ashwin returned Linton Das (35) to the pavilion, immediately after the drinks, Umesh Yadav gave a clean bow to Mehdi Hasan and gave Bangladesh the seventh blow.
