Ahead of the three-match T20 International series against India, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board can take a big decision regarding the captaincy of the team. According to the reports, after an embarrassing defeat against England, the current captain Kusal Perera will be replaced by All-Rounder Dasun Shanaka as the new white-ball captain of the Sri Lanka team.

Prior to this, Shanaka has also led Sri Lanka in 2019. Under his captaincy, Lanka had defeated Pakistan in T20Is series by 3-0. He was also named captain for the West Indies T20 series earlier this year but due to visa issues, Shanaka could not travel with the team on time.

Shanaka's international cricket career:

Let us tell you, Dasun Shanaka has played 42 T20 International matches so far for the Sri Lankan team, in which he has scored 548 runs. His highest score is 54 runs. However, his average is very low considering T20 cricket. He has been scoring runs at an average of just 16.12 and strike rate of 107.87.

Even though Dasun Shanaka has not been completely successful as a batsman, he has made a mark as a batting all-rounder. He has got the opportunity to bowl 17 times in 42 T20 Internationals and has managed to take 11 wickets.
