Senior NCP leader and former MP DP Tripathi has passed away in Delhi today (Thursday). Actually, he was battling cancer. He took his last breath at Max Hospital in Delhi. DP Tripathi's full name is Devi Prasad Tripathi. For the time being, he held the responsibility of the party as the General Secretary of the Nationalist Congress Party. Tripathi was considered extremely close to NCP chief Sharad Pawar. Last year, his term in the Rajya Sabha ended. Tripathi, who entered politics in 1968, is considered one of the best speakers.

Condoling the death of DP Tripathi, NCP leader Supriya Sule said that it was very sad to hear of the death of DP Tripathi. Was the Secretary General of NCP. He was the mentor and guide of all of us. We will remember his mentoring and guidance that he has given since the inception of NCP. May his soul rest in peace. Senior party leader Praful Patel also mourned his death. He said that the death of his colleague DP Tripathi was deeply shocking.

Maharashtra Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said that Tripathi's death has created an emptiness that cannot be filled again. The party has suffered a great loss due to his death. Bhujbal tweeted, 'NCP has lost a senior guru forever'. NCP chief spokesperson and Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik also condoled Tripathi's demise, saying that the former Rajya Sabha member had contributed significantly to the expansion of the party's base.

Devi Prasad Tripathi was born on 6 January 1954 in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Tripathi was the president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Association. Not only this, he later taught as a professor of politics at the University of Allahabad. At the age of 16, he wrote in politics. He soon became one of the associates of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. However, he later left the party in opposition to Sonia Gandhi. He then joined the Nationalist Congress Party in the year 1999, and later became the party's general secretary and chief spokesperson.
