Railway Minister Will Hold Virtual Meeting with all GMs and DRMs
The then Railway Minister Piyush Goyal had emphasized the decision to merge the 8 services of the Railways once again. In such a situation, only after its implementation, the appointment orders of GM of 9 zonal railways (state) including RDSO Lucknow and DRM of 18 divisions including Jaipur were to be issued. But for the time being, the reason for the delay in the posting of all these will not be service merge but the monsoon session of Parliament. Because only after this the orders for GM posting will be issued from the PMO.
At the same time, the order of posting of DRM will also be issued by the Railway Board only after this. At the same time, a senior official of a ministry said on the condition of anonymity that before issuing the orders of GM and DRM, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will hold a virtual meeting with the heads of 18 zonal railways spread across the country and their 68 divisions. In which a detailed discussion will be held regarding their future policies and plans. Only after that, it is believed that the posting orders of GM and DRM will be taken out.
8 out of 10 services were to be merged
The then Railway Minister held a meeting with railway officials from across the country about three years ago. In which it was decided to merge eight services including Traffic Service, Personal Service, Accounts Service, Store Service into the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS). Which was also approved by the cabinet in July 2019. In which instructions were also given to form the Empowered Committee of Ministers and the Empowered Committee of Secretaries. But the officials of various services of the railways had also launched a postcard campaign against it.
In such a situation, even after the consent of the Railway Minister, no final decision was taken in this direction so far. A senior official said that at present this will not be done. Because Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will take a final decision on this only after discussing it with senior officials. It is believed that Vaishnav is not in favor of this decision. It is worth mentioning that if this service was formed, then the officer of any service would become CPRO, Senior DCM, DOM.
10 GMs retired dreaming of becoming a secretary
The cabinet had also decided to give the status of Secretary to the Government of India to all GMs of Railways. But so far this has not happened. Due to which till now 10 GMs including Northern Railway have also retired after dreaming of getting the status of Secretary. At the same time, in the month of August, the GM of North Western Railway (Rajasthan) will also retire after dreaming of it.
