Students associated with ABVP demonstrated on Thursday against the fee hike in JNU. The protest march of the students started from Mandi House to Shastri Bhavan. On behalf of the student organization Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), it was said that 11 of their counselors also attended the committee's meeting with the representatives of the student union. All of them demanded that the hostel fees be withdrawn immediately.

Earlier, representatives of the JNU Students Union met on Wednesday a high-powered committee constituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The committee appealed to the students to restore normalcy. But the student union said that the demands should be met first. Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education and member of the committee Prof. Anil Sahastrabuddhe told that till now we have met the deans, wardens of the hostel and the students. There is good response from all to restore normalcy in JNU. On Thursday, some faculty members have also been called for the meeting and some students have also been called for the meeting. The matter will be resolved soon. Its full report will be submitted to the MHRD in two to three days.

The three-member committee was chaired by former UGC Chairman Prof. VS Chauhan is doing. Also, the Chairman of All India Technical Council, Prof. Anil Sahastrabuddhe and UGC Secretary Prof. Rajneesh Jain is included. JNU Students Union president Ishi Ghosh, vice-president Saket Moon, general secretary Satish Chandra Yadav and joint secretary M. Danish were present at the meeting to interact with the committee. 34 of the 42 JNU counselors were also present at the meeting. The committee had two meetings on Wednesday. The students' union and counselor were present in the first meeting. The second meeting was held at 3 pm in which the President of the hostel was present.

The student union said that the increase in the fees of hostels should be completely withdrawn for all students and the vice-chancellor's resignation should be taken. Also, the student dean should also be removed from the post.
