The world's fastest supersonic cruise missile BrahMos failed during test firing on Monday. It is being told that BrahMos fell on the ground soon after takeoff. The updated version of BrahMos, which is capable of hitting targets up to 450 km, was being tested off the coast of Odisha.

According to sources, this problem occurred in testing due to a fault in the propulsion system of the missile. However, the correct information will come out only after investigation. News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that the missile fell soon after its launch this morning.

However, a joint team of scientists from the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and BrahMos Aerospace Corporation is investigating the reasons for its failure. Let us tell you that BrahMos has been a very reliable missile. There have been very few occasions when its testing has failed.

The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was earlier used to hit targets below 300 km. Recently it was updated and now it is capable of attacking enemy positions up to 450 km away. In terms of speed, BrahMos is counted among the few missiles in the world.

Its maximum speed is more than 4,300 kilometers per hour. This missile is very portable i.e. they are easy to launch.

Missile made in collaboration with Russia

Earlier India has launched several variants of BrahMos. BrahMos Aerospace has developed them in collaboration with the Indian agency DRDO and Russia's NPO Mashinostroeyenia (NPOM). The BrahMos missile is named after two rivers, the Brahmaputra in India and the Moskva in Russia. Brahmos has been named from both Brah and Mos.
