In Haryana's Rohtak district, a canter carrying cows from Punjab to Nuh was caught by members of a cow protection team. 20 cows were recovered from the canter, which has been released in the gaushala. Two smugglers from Bathinda district of Punjab have also been apprehended from the spot, who are being questioned.
In the complaint given to the police, Tarun, a resident of Ward-11 of Sampla, told that he was coming to Sampla from Rohtak with his friend Gaurav. In the meantime, when a canter was suspected on the way, he got the canter stopped. On search, 20 cows were found inside the canter, which was stuffed with gusto. The members of the cow protection team apprehended two people in the canter, identified as Gurpreet and Balwinder, residents of Nai Pyawala village in Punjab's Bathinda district.
As soon as the information about the matter was received, the Sampla police station also reached the spot. On getting the information, Senior Deputy Mayor Raju Sehgal also reached there. The police arrested both the accused by taking possession of the canter. During interrogation, it emerged that the cows were being smuggled from Punjab to Nuh. A case has been registered against the accused under the Haryana Cow Protection Act and Animal Cruelty Act. At present, the police have got the cows released in the Gaushala.
It is worth noting that the cases of cow smuggling are increasing continuously. Two days ago, the Meham police station had also caught the cow. However, the accused driver managed to escape from the spot. 14 animals were stuffed in the canter, out of which two people died. And others have been saved. The police have not yet caught the driver. Apart from this, about 8 such cases have been caught in the last month.
