Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy to Appear on January 10: CBI Court

The special CBI court on Friday directed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy to appear on January 10 on a disproportionate assets case and investment in the firm. A petition seeking exemption from personal appearance was being heard by Jaganmohan in the court.

Ever since Jaganmohan became the Chief Minister, he does not appear during the hearing citing his peak schedule. The case has been heard in the court every Friday.

However, his plea was earlier rejected by the court. Jaganmohan was released from Chanchalguda jail on bail in September 2013 after his arrest in Hyderabad in May 2012. The special CBI court, while granting his bail plea, ordered that he should not directly and indirectly influence the witnesses. He was also asked to appear in the court during the hearing.

During the hearing, the court said that Jaganmohan Reddy has already got 10 exemptions and hence no further exemption will be granted. Apart from this, the court has also directed YSR Congress Party General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijaya Sai Reddy to appear in the court on 10 January.
