PM Modi said that today we are a rising example for the emerging economies of the world. The platform of the BRICS summit has also been useful for focusing on the priorities of developing countries. In the next 15 years, we have to ensure that BRICS becomes more useful. The theme that India has chosen for its presidency points to this priority. However, our theme is 'BRICS@15: Inter-BRICS Cooperation for Sustainability, Consolidation, and Consensus'. Cooperation for Continuity, Consolidation, and Consensus – this is the basis of the partnership of the four C(4C) BRICS countries.
Modi said that BRICS has started platforms like Energy Research Corporation, New Development Bank. WTo be proud of we have a lot of things. It is also important for the nation that we do not become complacent. For the next 15 years, we have to ensure that BRICS is useful.
More than 150 BRICS meetings and events were organized despite the chaos of Covid this year. From which 20 were of ministerial level. Along with promoting cooperation in traditional areas, we tried to enhance the BRICS agenda. This year BRICS achieved many firsts, ie many things happened for the first time.
Prime Minister Modi said this was also the first time that the BRICS had taken a similar role in strengthening and improving international programs. We have also looked at the BRICS Terrorism Action Plan. The first BRICS Digital Health conference was recently held. This is an important step in expanding health facilities with the help of technology. In November, the Ministries of Water Resources will meet for the first time in a BRICS manner.
This was the 15th anniversary of the BRICS, Chinese President Xi Jinping said. Over the past 15 years, we have increased political confidence and advanced diplomatic relations. We've found a solid way to communicate with each other. We have made progress in many areas. Together we are on our way to shared development. Since the beginning of this year, our partners have been trying to recover from the epidemic. We will work together to look at the future of BRICS. We will develop strategies based on shared resources to meet our challenges.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said the withdrawal of US troops and allies from Afghanistan poses new challenges. It is not yet clear how this will affect national and regional security. It is good that our countries are keeping a close eye on this issue.
Putin said that Afghanistan should not become a threat to its neighboring countries. Its soil should not be used as a source of terrorism and drug trafficking.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said our joint efforts against Corona had shown that if we worked together anything could be achieved. As the BRICS countries, we must continue to protect the lives, the lives of our people. Also, we must support global economic recovery and promote the resilience of social programs. Equal access to corona vaccines, diagnoses, and treatment regimens should be ensured. However, this is the only way we can respond to this global epidemic.
