Osaka: India and Indonesia have set ambitious targets for increasing bilateral trade to $ 50 billion in the next six years. This goal was set in Saturday's meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Saturday from the G20 summit. The two leaders discussed how to increase cooperation in many key areas including economy, defense and maritime security. They also discussed ways to increase bilateral trade and a broad synergy in the field of trade and investment.

According to Ministry of External Affairs spokesman Ravish Kumar, India and Indonesia have set a target to reach bilateral trade up to $ 50 billion by 2025. According to the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency, trade between the two countries stood at $ 12.90 billion in 2016. In the year 2017, it rose 28.70 percent to $ 18.13 billion. In the meeting of the two leaders, discussions on how to increase bilateral cooperation on issues related to trade and investment, defense and maritime security were discussed.

Trade and investment, defense, maritime security, widening of participation in the space sector were discussed and exchange of views on the attitude of the Indo-Pacific region.
