India Men's Hockey team displayed a determined performance to beat Malaysia 4-2 in an exciting encounter at the 28th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2019, Malaysia on Tuesday. This was India's second win after beating Japan 2-0 in the first match, while they drew the second match against Korea 1-1.

The two teams began the first quarter with powerful counterattacks that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats. First, it was India to foray into the striking circle with some skillful tackle by forward Simranjeet Singh but the hosts were alert to ward off initial danger.

Five minutes into the game, Malaysia won their first penalty corner but Krishan B Pathak guarding India's post did brilliantly to save. The following minutes saw accelerating play by both teams, playing on-par with each other and ended the quarter in a stalemate.

The first quarter goal between the two teams remained unchanged. In the 17th minute of the second quarter, India made a 1-0 lead with Sumit's excellent field goal. Although this edge did not last long, Malaysia gave a 1-1 draw in the match against Rahim through a penalty corner goal.

After the Sumit Kumar's field goal in the 27th minute, the Indian team maintained a 2-1 lead and kept the score till half time. In the 37th minute after half time, Varun converted the penalty corner into the goal and reached India's advantage by 3-1 to the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth and final quarter, the two teams received aggressive play. In the 57th minute, Tengku made the Malaysian goal by scoring a goal of 2-3. In the next minute, Mandeep scored a magnificent 4-2 win over India.

On the eve of Sumit Kumar's two spectacular field goals, Indian hockey team defeated Malaysian 4-2 in the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup on Tuesday. This is India's second win in three matches in this tournament. A match was on the draw.

For India, Sumit (17th, 27th), Varun Kumar (36th minute) and Captain Mandeep Singh (58th) scored goals. Razi Rahim (21st minute) and  Tengku (57th) secured one goal each from Malaysia. With this win, India has seven points. Korea also has so many points. Malaysia and Canada are six-six digits.

Though Malaysia had made numerous attempts on goal in the third quarter, including a PC, an alert Krishan who had come back to the post did well to keep India's lead.
