India and US Join Hands to Strengthen Relations over Defence & Security

India and the United States have agreed to intensify bilateral cooperation, increase defense trade, increase coordination with countries of common understanding for the peaceful Indo-Pacific region, such as Japan, and a decisive fight against terrorism. The second 'two plus two' talks between India and the US took place at the Foreign Department's Foggy Bottom headquarters here on Wednesday. Defense Secretary Mark Asper, along with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, along with their counterparts in India, Foreign Minister S.K. Hosted Jaishankar and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh at the Foreign Department's Foggy Bottom Headquarters. After the second 'two plus two' talks between India and the US, Foreign Minister Pompeo told reporters, "Today's talks are based on the progress made last year. We have entered into new agreements in areas such as space exploration, defense and industrial coordination. ' Pompeo said, 'We have agreed to set up a new exchange program for the MPs of our two countries. We are taking new initiatives to help internships for innovators from our countries and we support India's alliance for disaster resistant infrastructure. ' Along with Pompeo, Singh, Jaishankar and Asper were also present at the joint press conference. Pompeo said, 'Today we had a great and lively discussion on important regional challenges. We respect India's idea of security in the Indian-Pacific and security around the world. ' India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh described the two plus two talks as successful.
