Team India defeated New Zealand in the third T20 match of the 5-match T20 series. With this, India won the series by 3-0. Winning the first three consecutive matches against New Zealand under the captaincy of Virat, Team India won the T20 series for the first time in New Zealand. In this match, Team India batted first and scored 179 runs for five wickets in 20 overs on the basis of Rohit Sharma's half-century innings. In the super over, New Zealand scored 17 runs and gave India a target of 18 runs to win and Rohit Sharma hit two sixes in the last two balls of this super over to win this match. Prior to Virat, no Indian captain had won the T20 series in New Zealand and this happened for the first time.
