Team India won the second match of the 3-match ODI series against Australia at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. In this match, Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first. Batting first, Team India scored 340 runs losing 6 wickets in 50 overs. In response, the Australian team was bowled out for 304 runs in 49.1 overs. In this way, Australia lost by 36 runs in the second ODI and India made a strong comeback in the series. Now the three-match ODI series has become 1-1. The last match of the series will be played on 19 January in Bengaluru.

Chasing a target of 341 runs, the Australian team suffered the first blow as David Warner, who scored 15 runs. Aaron Finch, who played an unbeaten century in the last match, could not do anything special in Rajkot and after scoring 33 runs, was stumped by KL Rahul. While making his debut ODI innings, Marnus Labushagne (46) was caught out by Mohammad Shami. The fourth setback for the visiting team was Alex Carey, who scored 18 runs and was caught by Kohli off Kuldeep Yadav. The Kangaroo team suffered the fifth setback as Steve Smith. Smith was bowled by Kuldeep for 98 runs. Australia suffered the sixth blow as Aston Turner, who was clean bowled for 13 runs.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan started the innings for the Indian team after losing the toss. Both added 81 runs for the first wicket, but in the meantime, Rohit Sharma (42) was lbw out by Adam Jampa. Shikhar Dhawan hit a half-century in the second consecutive ODI match and missed the century for the second time as well. Shikhar Dhawan (96) was caught out by Starc. India suffered the third blow in the form of Shreyas Iyer (17), who was bowled by Adam Zampa. Virat Kohli completed his half-century off 50 balls, but on a personal score of 78, he got out by Adam Jampa for the fifth time in ODIs. KL Rahul completed his half-century off just 38 balls. Rahul played brilliant innings and was run out after scoring 80 off 52 balls. India got the 5th blow as Manish Pandey, who scored 2 runs and was caught out by Agar. Indian Batsman KL Rahul was adjudged 'Man of the Match'.
