The third match of the four-match Test series between India and Australia is being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Australia scored 338 runs on the second day of the match, while India had scored 96/2 at the end of the second day’s play. On the third day at the SCG, the Indian team resumed on 96/2 and scored 244 runs, losing all wickets.
At the end of the 3rd-day play, Australia had scored 103 runs at the loss of 2 wickets. On the basis of the first innings, the hosts have increased their lead to 197 runs. At the same time, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith remained unbeaten 47 and 29 runs respectively.
Pujara-Gill hit half-century:
The start of the third day did not go well for India as Captain Ajinkya Rahane (22 runs) was dismissed by Pat Cummins. India suffered another setback in the form of Hanuma Vihari on the second day. Meanwhile, Pujara completed his half-century off 174 balls. It was the slowest half-century made by any batsman in Test history. At the same time, young Indian opener Shubman Gill hit the first half-century of his Test career.
Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja suffered injury:
Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja were taken to the hospital for scans after suffering injuries on their left elbow and left thumb respectively while batting. Both players were replaced by the Substitute player.
In the first innings, when Pant was batting on 34 runs, a fast ball of Pat Cummins hit straight to his elbow. Pant immediately had to take help of team Physio. Meanwhile, the match was stopped for a long time. At the same time, Jadeja returned unbeaten in the first innings after scoring 28 runs.
