The Income Tax Department has raided the houses and institutions of the owners of Bhaskar newspaper in Bhopal. Raids are being conducted on the offices of the company since two and a half nights.
Bhopal: The Income Tax Department has raided the houses and institutions of the owners of Bhaskar newspaper on charges of tax evasion. It has been coming to light that raids are being conducted on the offices of the company since two and a half nights. Income Tax Investigation Wing raided different offices of Bhaskar in Noida, Jaipur and Ahmedabad.
It is being told that this is a big raid of the Income Tax department. The phones of all the employees present in Bhaskar's office have been confiscated. Also, no one is being allowed to go out. The income Tax team is present at half a dozen places including the Press Complex.
Along with the ED, Income Tax Department, there is also the support of the local police. The entire search operation is being conducted by the Delhi and Mumbai teams. More than 100 officer employees are involved in the raid. During the raids till now, important documents have been claimed to have been found.
Congress has attacked the Modi government over the raid. Congress National Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted, "Red GV Ji, a cowardly attack on the freedom of the press! Income tax raids on Dainik Bhaskar's Bhopal, Jaipur and Ahmedabad offices. We will not be able to suppress the voice of democracy with "Red Raj".
