Researchers at IIT Guwahati have developed such a bandage for wound binding, which has many properties. It is transparent and helps the body to heal the wound faster. It is made from synthetic polymers and is biodegradable. That is, it cannot harm the environment. Researchers claim that this bandage will be available at a very low cost.

How does this bandage heal wounds?

According to the researchers, this bandage increases the moisture. This moisture heals the wounds with the help of enzymes present in the body. As a result, with the application of this bandage, the body automatically starts healing the wounds. It can be available at up to 50 percent lower prices than other strips.

So the transparent strip was prepared

Cotton wool is commonly used to make a bandage for wounds. These are often used to prevent wound leakage and to heal wounds in a short time. However, many times the repaired tissue of the wound gets damaged during the removal of these bandages.

Transparent straps have been designed to avoid these problems. This will allow the wound to be seen from the outside and make the treatment easier.

Made from synthetic polymers and hydrogels

This strip has been prepared jointly by the team of the Department of Chemical Engineering. Researcher Aritra Das says synthetic polymers and hydrogels such as polyvinyl alcohol have been used to prepare this bandage. Due to this, this bandage is non-toxic and low-cost.
